Application for registration in the dental care professionals register
Your application for registration was assessed under Matters C and D, in accordance with the provisions contained in Section 36C(4), (5) and (6) of the Dentists Act 1984 (as amended).
Matters C and D provide that a person shall only be entitled to be registered in the dental care professionals register if he/she satisfies the Registrar of the GDC of the following matters: –
• Matter C – that he/she holds a qualification or qualifications granted by an institution outside the United Kingdom relevant to the profession, and has satisfied the Council that he has the requisite knowledge and skill to practise as a member of the profession or class to which the title applies; and (except where he is an exempt person) has the knowledge of English which, in the interests of himself and his patients, is necessary for practising as a dental therapist in the United Kingdom AND
• Matter D – that the Registrar is satisfied of the person’s identity; that he has the necessary knowledge of English; that he is of good character; and that he is in good health, both physically and mentally.
The GDC has now completed its assessment of your qualifications and experience as a dental therapist under Matters C and D above. Having taken into account your relevant qualifications and all your relevant knowledge and experience acquired, the GDC has decided that you are currently not eligible for registration as a dental therapist as you have not satisfied the Registrar that you have the requisite knowledge and skill to practise as a member of that professional. The reasons for this decision are set out below.
